I’ve been absent on here for a couple of months, and I have a good reason, I swear! Basically…we moved to Europe. That’s it.
We knew we wanted to spend a year doing short-term living all around Europe, and our original plan was to begin our trip in March. But, as always with the best laid plans, the universe had something else in mind. We received our lease renewal for the apartment we were renting; we began our lease in 2020 when you got a lot of bang for your buck and had managed to maintain that rate. Well, those days were over according to our new rate, which was such a huge increase that even if we tried to negotiate a lower rate, we would still be paying way more than we expected.
My husband and I laughed at each other nervously “Maybe we should just start our Europe trip now.” Those “haha’s” turned into “well, actually’s” as we weighed the options. Spend a lot of money living in an apartment we knew we would be leaving in a few months anyway, or put that money towards our travel? We made the decision in about an hour, and hit the ground running with eight weeks to do what we thought would be accomplished over the course of six months.

We have been sorting, minimizing, packing boxes, packing luggage, re-packing boxes, re-packing luggage, and still trying to live a semi-normal life these past two months. It felt overwhelming at times and I sometimes questioned our decision. But now writing this in our little apartment in Barcelona, I can say with full confidence that it is the best thing we’ve ever done.
So that’s the story. We will be traveling around different countries for the next year, and I can finally put the name of this blog to good use after a couple years of hiatus from international travel. I feel the most like myself when I’m traveling, and this is a dream come true for me. I hope you all follow along with me as I share travel guides, slow travel tips, and eco-friendly habits you can incorporate on your own journeys.
Love this!!! So excited to follow along on your journey π₯°
