My favorite thing about smoothies is how I can jam pack a majority of the nutrients I need into a single serving. It’s fast, portable, and goes down quickly without having to think about it. I’ve been changing and perfecting my smoothie recipe based on my health and nutrition goals. Everybody has different tastes: for example, I’d much rather eat a spoonful of almond butter rather than add it to a smoothie. But once you find a recipe that you like and is good for you, it makes life so much easier.
When I went to my doctor this year, she told me that I had a weakened immune system and to try and build it up through supplements and nutrition. I found that the easiest way to consume these supplements were to just throw them into my smoothie, and it didn’t impact the taste too much. So here is my current go to smoothie recipe*:

Triple berry blend or half a banana: I love a fruit smoothie and need to add it for the taste. Depending on what I have on hand I either use berries or banana. Berries are full of antioxidants which can boost your immune system as well as fiber and vitamin C.
Kale or spinach: My favorite is spinach, but I had kale this week so I added that. I find that freezing my greens keeps them fresh for longer and improves the texture of the smoothie.
Protein powder: Pretty self-explanatory, I add it for protein and added taste.
Seeds: I have been seed cycling for the past year now to which can help with hormone balance. I add flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds in my follicular phase and sesame seeds and sunflower seeds in my luteal phase. They also add fiber and healthy fats.
Green powder: Also self-explanatory, adds some more servings of greens.
Elderberry powder: Elderberry is known for its immune boosting benefits thanks to its antioxidants and vitamins.
Immunity blend powder: I found this the easiest way to get a variety of immune boosting supplements. This powder has camu, orange, and acerola cherry.
Spirulina powder: While it doesn’t taste very good (and use very little of it), spirulina has anti-inflammatory effects on the body.

Reishi powder: I’ve been incorporating mushrooms into my diet after learning so much about their benefits. Reishi can help improve your immune system, reduce stress, and improve sleep.
Lion’s mane powder: Another mushroom, lion’s mane helps with brain function and can help with focus.
Add your choice of liquid (I use water or oat milk) and blend until smooth. I hope you enjoy!
