When I first started my sustainability journey a couple of years ago, as I did my research on skincare I realized and eco-friendly and clean skincare generally went hand-in-hand. Since then, I have been making the switch to entirely “clean” (meaning free from parabens, vegan, fragrance free, etc.) skincare and makeup. While I’m not perfect and still in the process of completely switching over, I’ve finally reached my go-to products that are good for both my skin and the planet.

Morning Skincare
When I first wake up and before I go to the gym, I simply splash my face with lukewarm water and don’t put any products on until I’m back and showered so I don’t sweat them off. I cleanse my skin, then add a vitamin C serum to my face, applying in an upward motion. Vitamin C can stimulate collagen production, fights fine lines, and brightens.
Once I’ve let the serum sink in, I apply a moisturizer. This step is especially important in the winter since my face can get dry. I then add SPF on top, and if you follow any person who speaks on skincare, you know that they stress applying SPF everyday no matter what. It not only protects your skin from the sun, but also the blue light that emits from your laptop and phone.

Night Skincare
My nighttime skincare routine is a bit longer, and I treat it as my time to wind down at the end of the day and relax for bed. I start by double cleansing my skin: working the product into my skin on it’s own first then exfoliating to really unclog my pores. I then use toner with my reusable cotton rounds and swipe in an upward motion to get any remaining dirt off my skin.
Once my skin is dry, I apply a serum, lately these two from Farmacy. Once applied, I use my gua sha tool to give myself a facial massage. I love how it feels, and I’ve noticed a difference in the bloating of my face. Gua sha helps with lymphatic drainage and can promote blood circulation. Finally, I add my moisturizer and lip mask. While Laneige is not a clean skincare brand, I haven’t found any other lip mask that works so well. If you have any suggestions please comment them below!
